Efficiency of Chemotherapy for Adolescent Pulmonary TB
Abstract
The authors of the paper analyzed medical histories of teenage patients with pulmonary tuberculosis who were being treated in the Child care department of the State Budget Institution of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), scientific and practical center “Phthisiatry”. Most adolescents were infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis in the early and pre-school age, received preventive treatment, but later under the influence of factors, most often in young men in their teen’s age tubercular process developed. Treatment analysis showed that at the optimal treatment in patients releasing sensitive strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, there was an accelerated clinical and radiographic dynamics and less pronounced residual changes in the lung tissue than in patients with multidrug-resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which led to cheaper treatment courses and reduced hospitalization period.
